CLRG launches the ACT Local for Baranggay Health Workers (BHW)

The Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG) officially launched the first batch of the ACT Local training program for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) on 26 February 2025 at the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI). In partnership with the Climate Change Commission PH, the program aims to equip BHWs with the necessary knowledge and skills to address climate-sensitive health risks and contribute to local climate change action planning.

UP-NCPAG Dean Kristoffer B. Berse welcomed the BHWs from Caloocan City and emphasized their vital role in driving climate action within their communities. Barangay Health and Wellness Partylist Representative Natasha Co then highlighted efforts to advance the welfare of BHWs, including the Magna Carta for BHWs.

For the first day of the training program, CLRG piloted a module regarding the link of public health and climate change in collaboration with College of Public Health, University of the Philippines.
