NCPAG faculty elected board member of int’l nonprofit research association

Dr. Maria Faina L. Diola, Associate Professor of the UP-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG), was elected to the board of directors of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR).

Diola, who served as Director of the Center for Leadership, Citizenship, and Democracy and the NCPAG Publications Office, will start her term in the  14-member board on 1 January 2021.

Founded in 1992, the ISTR is a major international association promoting research and education in the fields of civil society, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector. ISTR states in its website that “it is committed to building a global community of scholars and interested others dedicated to the creation, discussion, and advancement of knowledge pertaining to the Third Sector and its impact on human and planetary well-being and development internationally.”

Prior to her election to the board, Diola also served as chair of the ISTR Search Committee for the Voluntas 2019 Best Paper Award.

Diola is the second UP-NCPAG faculty to be elected in the board of the prestigious organization. University Professor Emeritus Ledivina Cariño was elected chair of the board of the ISTR in 2007.
