In commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, the Center for Leadership, Citizenship, and Democracy of the National College of Public Administration and Governance (CLCD-NCPAG) of the University of the Philippines at Diliman will organize a public forum entitled “A Journey to Democracy: Ganito Tayo Noon, Naasan Na Tayo Ngayon” to be held on Thursday, 22 February 2018 at the NCPAG Assembly Hall.
The roster of speakers includes former President Fidel V. Ramos, who will reflect on post-EDSA democracy and governance, and Office of the Cabinet Secretary (OCS) Spokesperson Asec. Jonas George Soriano, who will tackle the state of contemporary Philippine democracy and governance and their respective futures.
UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies (CIDS) Director and political scientist Dr. Teresa Encarnacion-Tadem will provide insights from the academe, while State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton sociology professor and Laban ng Masa Chair Dr. Walden Bello will share the views from civil society’s perspective.
UP Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Cynthia Rose Bautista and NCPAG Dean Dr. Maria Fe Villamejor-Mendoza will also grace the occasion, with a special message from Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo.
CLCD-NCPAG is one of the four constituent centers of NCPAG. The Center is engaged in research in the fields of presidential and public leadership, civil society and citizenship, and democratization and democracy assessment, and provides customized training on strategic planning and citizen engagement among others.
