Tapales to tackle Filipino women and politics in next installment of Deans Lecture Series

Dr. Proserpina D. Tapales is scheduled to deliver her lecture Once More With Passion: Filipino Women and Politics on April 21, 2017, 2pm at the NCPAG Case Room.

The lecture is the second installment of the NCPAG Deans Lecture Series (DLS).

Launched in February 2017, the DLS  is being held in celebration of NCPAG’s 65th anniversary.

It features lectures about a chosen topic of the College’s current and former deans. The activity aims to honor and strengthen the College’s tradition of scholarship and intellectual praxis in the service of the nation and pay tribute to the men and women who steered the College to the institution it is today.

Dr. Tapales served as Dean of NCPAG  and Director of its Center for Local and Regional Government. Outside NCPAG, she served as the first Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the UP Open University and Deputy Director of the U.P. Center for Women’s Studies of which she is one of the founders.

She has written papers on local government, public administration and gender and has edited and co-edited books on those topics. Among them are Filipino Women and Public Policy, three books of readings in public administration and three on local government. She was also editor of the Review of Women’s Studies.

She holds AB and MPA degrees from the University of the Philippines and a PhD in Political Science from the Northern Illinois University, U.S.A.
