NCPAG faculty receives UP Diliman Professorial Chair, appointed research fellow

Dr. Ebinezer R. Florano was awarded the U.P. Diliman Centennial Professorial Chair (1 July 2014-30 June 2015). 

Dr. Florano received the award in a simple ceremony held during the UPD University Council meeting on 16 February 2015 at the Benitez Hall of the College of Education.He was awarded for his international book chapter entitled, “Mainstreaming Integrated Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction in Local Development Plans in the Philippines” which was published in the online version of Handbook of Climate Change Adaptation (2014) by Springer-Verlag.

Dr. Florano was also a recipient of the UPD Faculty Grant in recognition of his international publication in 2009. The UPD Faculty grants and the UPD CEntennial Professorial Chair are considered the highest forms of recognition and incentives conferred to UP faculty members for their achievements in their respective disciplines through the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters.

Two weeks prior to the conferment of the professorial chair, Dr. Florano was appointed as fellow of the Resilience Development Initiative (RDI).  According to its website (www.rdi.or.id), RDI is “an Indonesian think-tank initiative that focuses on resilience studies and sustainable development. RDI contributes to the body of knowledge on development and disaster research studies.” As a fellow, Dr. Florano will collaborate with the research organization in producing knowledge products on disaster resilience.

Dr. Florano is Associate Professor of UP-NCPAG, and Director of its Center for Policy and Executive Development.
