Dr. Heady got an A.B. degree in Washington University, St. Louis, (1937) an A.M., (1937) and a Ph.D. degree in political science (1940). He became the 10th President of the University of New Mexico from 1968 to 1975. From 1975 to 1981, he returned to teaching Political Science and served as Professor Emeritus in 1981 until his death in 2006. He received the American Society of Public Administration’s (ASPA’s) 1993 – 1994 Dwight Waldo Award for outstanding contributions to the literature and leadership of Public Administration during his career. His most notable book entitled Public Administration: A Comparative Perspective was published in six editions from 1966 to 2001.
