The Center for Policy and Executive Development (CPED) successfully concluded its capacity-building partnership with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) with the third day of its Certificate Course on Research Development and Implementation.
The final day was facilitated by UP-NCPAG Faculty Assoc. Prof. Michael A. Tumanut, Ph.D., who led a session on evaluating research projects and discussed strategies for continuous improvement in juvenile justice research. This was followed by a practical workshop in which participants crafted research proposals aligned with the JJWC Five-Year Research Agenda (2025–2029).
The program concluded with closing messages from JJWC Executive Director Atty. Tricia Clare Oco and CPED Director Assoc. Prof. Enrico L. Basilio, DPA, along with participant reflections—all highlighting a shared commitment to advancing evidence-based and impactful research in the field of juvenile justice and welfare.
Twenty-five JJWC social welfare officers, project development officers, and technical experts serving as regional team leaders successfully completed the course.
Through this initiative, CPED reaffirms its commitment to working with institutions like JJWC in strengthening research capacities and promoting evidence-informed governance in the pursuit of meaningful reforms in the juvenile justice system.
