Maria Victoria R. Raquiza


Dr. Maria RaquizaVictoria R. Raquiza is Assistant Professor of Public Administration, teaching courses on public policy and program administration, public fiscal administration, public administration and the economic system, and poverty alleviation and social development among others. Her specializations include public policy and poverty alleviation and social development administration.

She is a co-convenor of Social Watch Philippines and serves as a member of the Social Watch International Coordinating Committee. In April 2011, she was made Fellow of the Social Weather Stations (SWS), one of the leading opinion polling institutions in the Philippines. She was also a founding member of Saliraya, a grassroots feminist mass organization in the Philippines.

Dr. Raquiza presented her research entitled “Democratizing Poverty Discourse: The Case of the SWS Self-Rated Surveys on Poverty and Hunger” for her master’s degree, major in poverty studies and policy analysis, at the Graduate School of Development Studies of the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands. She wrote a dissertation entitled “Making the Link between Good Governance/Institutional Reforms and Poverty Reduction: The Philippine Experience” for her Ph.D. at the Department of Asian and International Studies at the City University of Hong Kong, studying under Dr. Mark Thompson.
