The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has chosen the Philippine Journal of Public Administration (PJPA) as one of the recipients of its Journal Incubation Grant.
As part of the said grant, the PJPA is to receive the following support from CHED: 1) PhP 400,000 per year financial assistance for three years; 2) installation of a digital platform for online article submission, refereeing and manuscript tracking; 3) CHED endorsement for library subscription; and 4) automatic nomination for the CHED REPUBLICA: Journal of the Year (JI) Category awards program.
In receiving this support, the Journal is expected to develop/improve its Journal webpage; expedite its submission-to-publication schedule; increase citation, impact, and engagement; and provide online access to its articles. It is also expected to engage more editors, referees, and authors outside the Philippines.
The CHED Journal Incubation (JI) Program aims to help “internationalize” and raise the quality of Philippine journals, promote open access publishing, and encourage researchers to publish their outputs. This is by improving publication process and operations, increasing its readership and international impact, widening its social media presence, and supporting programs and activities that promote academic journals.
The Journal Incentive Grant application is part of NCPAG’s efforts to include the PJPA in the list of Scopus/Web of Science-indexed journals by 2019. Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) are renowned databases of abstracts and citations of journals, books, and other peer-reviewed literature from around the world. Inclusion in these databases will help elevate the impact of PJPA in the field of public administration.
The Philippine Journal of Public Administration is the flagship academic journal of UP NCPAG. A bi-annual peer-reviewed journal, PJPA publishes research, reflections, and other scholarly work on public administration and governance within and outside the Philippines.
In February this year, the NCPAG Library made PJPA issues available online through HeinOnline, an online collection of literature on law and governance.
