Dr. Macapado A. Muslim, University Professor and former President of the Mindanao State University (MSU), visited the NCPAG recently to deliver a lecture titled “The 2018 Bangsamoro Organic Law and Compensatory Justice, Peace and Development,” held on 8 March 2019 at the Case Room.
An expert in the subject of peace and governance in multicultural countries, Dr. Muslim discussed in his lecture the key features of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and the major governance challenges that must be addressed to ensure the success of the new regional government in achieving peace in Mindanao.
The newly-passed BOL, according to Muslim, “provides a more balanced approach in addressing the desire for national unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, distinct culture and the survival and development of the Bangsamoro region.”
Prof. Macrina Hannah A. Morados, Dean of the UP Institute of Islamic Studies and Dr. Grace Gorospe Jamon, Director of the UP Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga served as discussants for the lecture.
Dr. Muslim’s lecture is the latest edition of the NCPAG Guest Lecture Series. Started in 2014, the activity aims to strengthen the College’s tradition of scholarship and intellectual praxis through the discussion of ideas and pressing issues in public administration and governance.
Dr. Muslim is an alumnus of the NCPAG. He graduated from the Master of Public Administration program in 1980 and was conferred the Distinguished Alumni Award by the College in 2008.
